Swansea City's Garry Monk: 'West Ham United link is a compliment'

Monk: 'West Ham link a compliment'

Swansea City manager Garry Monk has described recent speculation linking him with a move to West Ham United as a "compliment".

The Hammers hierarchy are believed to have placed Monk on their wishlist amid rumours that Sam Allardyce will leave the club in the summer.

It has been widely reported that the Premier League outfit are keen to make changes prior to their move to the Olympic Stadium in 2016, but Monk has played down the rumours.

"West Ham have a fantastic manager in place," Monk told reporters. "For them to be looking elsewhere, if they are, I think they've already got the manager there who's had a fantastic season.

"I look at that type of speculation as a compliment to the way myself and the team have worked this season, showing we're progressing and going in the right direction."

Monk has two years left on his contract at the Liberty Stadium.
