Garry Monk: 'I am determined to put things right at Swansea City'

Swansea City boss Garry Monk says that he is determined to turn Swansea City's current run of poor form around, and will tell his players to "be bold" against Bournemouth.

Garry Monk has said that he is determined to turn Swansea City's current run of poor form around, and will tell his players to "be bold" against Bournemouth this afternoon.

Following a positive start to the season, the Swans have now won just once in their last nine matches in all competitions.

Reports had suggested that Monk was on the verge of being sacked by the Swansea hierarchy, but the former club player intends to turn things around against a Bournemouth side which has lost its last five games.

"The responsibility ultimately lies with me and I'm determined to put it right," Monk told reporters. "I'm not going to cry about it, you have to believe in yourself, we have to come out fighting. You show your character and spirit and I make sure the players do the same."

Asked about this afternoon's game against the Cherries, the 36-year-old added: "Be bold, that will be the message. We have spoken at length as a group and the only thing that matter is what is said between us, we are the only ones who can affect things. No-one writing stuff about us can affect us and what we need to do to improve things.

"It is down to us and that will not change. It is down to us to find that way of playing, to rely on each other, and come back and show what a good club and team we are. From what I have seen from the players they are together and I expect a reaction on the weekend."

Monk last season guided the Swans to their highest ever position in the English top flight.
