Leon Britton: 'Win over Watford gives us big lift'

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton believes that the win over Watford and arrival of new boss Francesco Guidolin will give the team a "big lift".

Swansea City midfielder Leon Britton has said that this evening's 1-0 victory over Watford will give the team "a big lift" in their fight against relegation.

New head coach Francesco Guidolin watched on from the stands as Ashley Williams scored the only goal of the game at the Liberty Stadium to hand Swansea just their third win since August.

The three points take the Swans back out of the relegation zone after results at the weekend had seen them drop into the bottom three.

"Today probably wasn't the prettiest of games but at this stage of the season three points are massive for us," Britton told Sky Sports News.

"When you have a new manager watching the game, everyone is out to impress of course. It has given everyone a lift.

"It is a big weekend because we dropped into the bottom three so we needed the win to get back out. A big lift."

Guidolin will take over from Alan Curtis, who will continue to work alongside the new manager, this week.
