Michael Laudrup: "You can't keep a player who wants to leave"

Laudrup: 'It's a good opportunity for Allen'

Swansea City manager Michael Laudrup has revealed that it would have been wrong to keep Joe Allen at the club.

Allen completed his transfer to Liverpool on Friday and Laudrup admits that it is a good opportunity for the 22-year-old. Laudrup said: "You can't keep a player who wants to leave.

"He has a great possibility to go to a big club with a manager who knows him and who will play him."

The deal bringing Allen to Liverpool is believed to be costing the club around £15m.
