Lukasz Fabianski warns Arsenal: I'm not 'Flappyhandski' anymore

Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski hopes to bury the 'Flappyhandski' nickname that he remains haunted by when he returns to former club Arsenal.

Swansea City goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski is determined to put an infamous nickname behind him when he returns to former club Arsenal on Monday night.

After making a string of high-profile errors for the Gunners in 2010, the Poland international was branded 'Flappyhandski' for his struggles between the sticks.

However, the 30-year-old has since developed into an assured keeper and helped the North Londoners to FA Cup glory last term, before leaving for South Wales.

This season, he has claimed more crosses than any other goalkeeper in the Premier League, and sits in the top four of lists for both saves and clean sheets.

Ahead of returning to the Emirates, Fabianski, who has been linked with a summer move to Roma, is keen to bury the nickname in question once and for all.

"That was in 2010, after I made something like two mistakes in three games," he told the Daily Mail. "Wigan and Blackburn. I remember.

"I wont lie, it was a difficult period. The fans were saying things and so were the press. I didn't help myself because I had made the mistakes. People always want to come up with a funny name. That one was quite creative."

On his resurgence, he added: "It is very enjoyable. Turning up to games, I have a feeling of being an important part of the team."

The Pole has conceded 40 goals in 34 Premier League starts this season.
