Sunderland unable to recall Asamoah Gyan

Sunderland have discovered that they cannot recall striker Asamoah Gyan from his loan spell with UAE club Al-Ain.

An agreement of his season-long loan deal means that he can only return to Wearside with Al-Ain's permission.

However, both parties are reportedly happy with the current arrangement.

New manager Martin O'Neill had said that he would look into bringing the 26-year-old back to the Stadium of Light.

Gyan signed for the Black Cats from Rennes in summer 2010 for a club record £13m.
