Sunderland boss Sam Allardyce open to signing a free agent for 'instant impact'

Sam Allardyce open to signing free agent

Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he will consider signing a free agent, but only a player who he believes will make an instant impact.

The Black Cats have claimed just one victory in 10 Premier League games, two of which have been under the guidance of new boss Allardyce.

The former West Ham United manager has admitted that he is keeping an eye on the Bosman market, three months before the transfer window reopens.

The 61-year-old told the Sunderland Echo: "[We're interested in] anywhere across the front three. Anybody with a bit more pace, or a bit more of an eye for a goal, if you can find one at this stage of the season."

The North-East outfit are currently third from bottom in the league table.
