Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio can be sacked if he doesn't save the Black Cats from relegation, according to a report.

Sunderland can reportedly sack manager Paolo Di Canio at the end of the season if he doesn't save them from relegation to the Championship.

The People believes that club chairman Ellis Short inserted the clause into the Italian's contract when he agreed to replace Martin O'Neill last week.

The 44-year-old has the utmost confidence that he can keep the Black Cats in the Premier League, so he signed the deal without hesitation.

Di Canio's first game in charge of Sunderland is against Chelsea later today.
