Queens Park Rangers have picked up their first away win of the season by claiming a 2-0 victory over Sunderland.

They took the lead when Leroy Fer headed a cross from Matt Phillips into the bottom corner.

Bobby Zamora volleyed in a second on the stroke of half time to help seal the points for the visitors.

SUNDERLAND:

Goal

Costel Pantilimon: Had no chance of saving either of the goals as he was left helplessly exposed by his defence. (6/10)

Defence

Anthony Reveillere: Delivered a couple of good crosses from the right for the Black Cats in the first half, but was forced off with an injury shortly after the hour mark. (6/10)

Santiago Vergini: Had a tough night against Zamora and lost his individual battle against the striker. He used the ball poorly and had little positive impact.(5/10)

John O'Shea: Poor display from the Irishman who had a difficult evening. His positioning let him down for both goals and he was second best in his aerial duels. (5/10)

Patrick Van Aanholt: Caught out for both goals, with Phillips able to find plenty of space on the right to set up Fer and Zamora. He got forward more in the second half, without ever being able to make a real difference. (5/10)

Midfield

Liam Bridcutt: Was overrun by the QPR midfield from the start and never got to grips with the strength of Fer and Barton. (5/10)

Sebastian Larsson: Put in some decent free kicks and crosses in the second half, but was unable to inspire his side to a comeback. (6/10)

Jordi Gomez: Made little impact and consistently gave the ball away. Was replaced at half time by Alvarez. (5/10)

Adam Johnson: Barely posed a threat and struggled with his deliveries all evening. (5/10)

Attack

Connor Wickham: Saw his header brilliantly pushed onto the bar by Green in the first half, but was rarely involved after the break. (6/10)

Jermain Defoe: Was barely given any service by his teammates throughout the match. He did have one big chance to pull a goal back for his side, but his close-range strike was kept out by Green. (6/10)

Substitutes

Steven Fletcher: Was only on for the last eight minutes and barely had a touch. (6/10)

Ricky Alvarez: Made a decent impact after coming on at the break and delivered some dangerous crosses into the box that his teammates couldn't take advantage of. (6/10)

Wes Brown: Came on for injured Reveillere and helped to shore up his team's defence. (6/10)

QUEENS PARK RANGERS:

Goal

Robert Green: Had a fantastic game and made two stunning saves to deny Wickham and Defoe. Made a further stop from Alvarez to ensure a thoroughly deserved clean sheet. (9/10)

Defence

Mauricio Isla: Solid game from the Chilean who was rarely beaten down his flank. He supported Phillips well in the attack and offered a good outlet throughout. (7/10)

Steven Caulker: Very impressive showing from the centre-back, who was a rock all evening. He handled the threat of Defoe and was never beaten in the air. (8/10)

Rio Ferdinand: Another good performance from one of the QPR defenders. The former England international showed his experience with some neat passing and a commanding defensive display. (7/10)

Yun Suk-young: The full back was rarely troubled in the first half, but he was forced to defend further back after the break and did his job well. (7/10)

Midfield

Matt Phillips: Set up both of QPR's goals with two great crosses from the right. Always looked a threat before he was replaced by Wright-Phillips. (8/10)

Joey Barton: Tough-tackling performance as always from the midfielder. He put in a number of strong challenges and helped his side to dominate the match. (7/10)

Leroy Fer: Highly impressive showing from the Dutchman who bossed the midfield. Scored the first goal with a fine header and almost added the second with a strike that came back off the post. (8/10)

Niko Kranjcar: Showed some fine touches on the ball throughout the match and defended well too. (7/10)

Karl Henry: Sat in front of the defence and helped his side to control the match. Used the ball well and put in some strong tackles. (7/10)

Attack

Bobby Zamora: Led the line well and scored a stunning goal on the stroke of half time. He gave the Sunderland defence plenty of problems all evening. (7/10)

Michael Doughty: Came on for his league debut with five minutes left and slotted well into the midfield. (6/10)

Mauro Zarate: Replaced the injured Fer and put in an energetic showing. (6/10)
