Sunderland to rename Sports Bar after Niall Quinn

Sunderland announce that the club's Stadium of Light Sports Bar is to be renamed 'Quinn's' in honour of former chairman and player Niall Quinn.

Sunderland have announced that the club will rename the Stadium of Light's Sports Bar in tribute to former chairman Niall Quinn.

The bar will be known as 'Quinn's' following the 45-year-old's decision to step down from his duties with the Premier League club earlier this year.

Chairman Ellis Short told the club's official website: "Niall is and always will be a Sunderland legend and he has a special and unique place in the club's history.

"We wanted to ensure that his name lived on not only in the hearts of every Sunderland fan but in a tangible way too and whilst Niall has gone on record to say that he didn't want a stand named after him, what could be more apt than to rename our most popular supporters bar after him."

The bar will display a host of memorabilia relating to Quinn's playing career with the Black Cats.
