Roberto Di Matteo to turn down Sunderland job?

Di Matteo to snub Sunderland?

Sunderland could reportedly be unsuccessful in their bid to lure Roberto Di Matteo to the Stadium of Light following the dismissal of Paolo Di Canio.

The 43-year-old was named as an early frontrunner for the position when it was announced that Di Canio's services were no longer needed just five games into the Premier League season.

However, it is understood that Di Matteo may need convincing to join the club by Black Cats director of football Roberto di Fanti as he is in no rush to return to management after getting sacked by Chelsea last November, according to the Daily Star.

Reports have claimed that Sunderland chairman Ellis Short is willing to take time to appoint a new manager.
