Sunderland captain Lee Cattermole is confident that manager Martin O'Neill will be able to orchestrate a successful season for the Black Cats.
The Premier League outfit have begun pre-season training ahead of the new campaign and the 24-year-old believes that the North East side can improve on their 13th-place finish from last season.
"This season is Martin's main season," Cattermole told the Northern Echo. "He has had time to prepare for the summer, I'm sure he will bring some more players in.
"He will really want to stamp his authority on the side and it's a really exciting year. Hopefully it will go well – I'm sure it will."
The Black Cats have already signed former Aston Villa defender Carlos Cuellar.
