Allardyce determined to make positive impact

New Sunderland manager Sam Allardyce has revealed that he is determined to make positive memories at the Stadium of Light following his appointment by the club.

The 60-year-old was confirmed as Dick Advocaat's successor when he signed a two-year contract with the Black Cats, ending his five months out of the game.

Allardyce, who played for Sunderland in the 1980-81 season, is adamant that he wants to rekindle the atmosphere he experienced in his time at the club once again on Wearside following the club's poor start to the season.

Allardyce's first game in charge will be against West Bromwich Albion at The Hawthorns on October 17.
