Vedad Ibisevic banned for five games

Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic is banned for five matches following his red card during Sunday's 4-1 loss at the hands of Augsburg.

Stuttgart striker Vedad Ibisevic has been banned for five matches following his red card in Sunday's 4-1 defeat to Augsburg.

Ibisevic was shown a straight red card following a clash with Augsburg defender Jan-Ingwer Callsen-Bracker early in the second half, as Stuttgart fell to a fifth consecutive league defeat.

The 29-year-old will now miss matches against Hoffenheim, Hertha Berlin, Eintracht Frankfurt, Eintracht Braunschweig and Werder Bremen before returning against Hamburger SV on March 22.

Ibisevic is Stuttgart's top scorer so far this season with 10 goals in 20 league matches and 15 in 26 games in all competitions.

Stuttgart are currently 14th in the Bundesliga table, just two points clear of the relegation playoff spot and three clear of the bottom two.
