RC Strasbourg have reportedly submitted an offer to Manchester City for young centre-back Jahmai Simpson-Pusey as they continue their busy summer transfer window.
The Ligue 1 side have already made a significant impact in the market, having signed the likes of Joaquin Panichelli, Mathis Amougou, Andre Omobamidele, Valentin Barco and Pape Bemba Diop. With spending totalling around €80m (£68m), Strasbourg have been the most active and highest-spending French club so far this summer.
Having qualified for the UEFA Europa Conference League play-offs, Strasbourg are seeking to both strengthen and deepen their squad. Since the arrival of the BlueCo consortium – which also owns Chelsea – the club has increasingly focused on investing in promising young talents, a strategy clearly visible once again this summer.
Strasbourg interested in Jahmai Simpson-Pusey
Despite already bringing in nine new signings, Strasbourg are reportedly eyeing a tenth.
According to British journalist Pete O'Rourke, the French side have joined Celtic in showing interest in 19-year-old defender Simpson-Pusey and have made an approach to Manchester City.
The exact terms of the offer remain unclear – whether it involves a permanent transfer or a loan deal – as does any potential fee. The England youth international is currently valued at €5m (£4.2m) by Transfermarkt, despite having made just six senior appearances for the City first team. Most of his game time last season came with the club’s Under-21s.
