Stoke City rubbish rumours of Asmir Begovic transfer to Liverpool

Stoke City chief executive Tony Scholes has rejected reports that goalkeeper Asmir Begovic is poised to sign for Liverpool this summer.

The 25-year-old was quoted by sources in his home country of Bosnia as saying that he will attend pre-season training with the Merseyside outfit.

"Asmir's agent rang me as soon as these stories surfaced," the Daily Star quotes Scholes as saying. "He assures me that Asmir doesn't know the Bosnian journalist and has certainly never spoken to him. It's complete fabrication and unfortunately it has been picked up by a paper in this country."

Reports have rumbled over the course of the season that Begovic could leave the Britannia Stadium this summer.
