Stoke City chairman Peter Coates hopeful of new deal for Peter Crouch

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates suggests that he is hopeful of striker Peter Crouch penning a new contract before the end of the season.

Stoke City chairman Peter Coates has revealed that he wants Peter Crouch to extend his stay at the bet365 Stadium.

Crouch has less than a year remaining on his current deal, but the 36-year-old has maintained his standing at the club with three goals in the Premier League this season, despite not starting a single top-flight fixture.

Manager Mark Hughes has acknowledged that Crouch is frustrated with his lack of game time, but Coates remains hopeful that the veteran forward will remain in the Potteries.

Coates told the Stoke Sentinel: "Peter knows we value his contribution to the football club, not just on the field, but off it too.

"We hope to be able to sort things out to suit both parties. We are aware of the situation [with his contract]. We have a good relationship with him and we would like him to continue his career with us."

Since the start of the 2015-16 campaign, Crouch has made just 17 starts in the Premier League, with 28 outings coming from the bench.
