Stoke City sign Dutch midfielder Wouter Burger from Basel

The Potters have completed the signing of midfielder Wouter Burger.

The former Netherlands youth international has penned a four-year contract at the bet365 Stadium, joining for an undisclosed fee from FC Basel.

"I have been waiting for a long time to get the deal done and I am so happy to finally be here and begin this new journey," Burger told stokecityfc.com.

"Stoke were really clear throughout the summer that they wanted to sign me as a priority and have put a lot of effort in to get me here. I am excited to play in the Championship and also believe that I will improve my game in this league.

"It is a new project, there is a good energy at the training ground and stadium and a clear goal, which is exciting to be a part of."
