Jonathan Walters: "We learnt our lesson"

Stoke City forward Jonathan Walters feels that his side learned from their experience against West Ham United to defeat Tottenham Hotspur in their Premier League clash.

Stoke City forward Jonathan Walters has revealed that his side used the lesson they learned against West Ham United to great effect in their win over Tottenham Hotspur.

The Potters spurned a two-goal lead against the Hammers as they were forced to settle for a point against Sam Allardyce's side.

However, in their match with Spurs, Mark Hughes's men held out for the three points after strikes from Bojan Krkic and Walters himself had fired them ahead at White Hart Lane.

The striker told the club's official website: "We learnt our lesson against West Ham – that's a game we should have won and we weren't going to let a two-goal lead slip again.

"Everyone to a man, even those who came off the bench, knew their job and what was expected of them and I think we executed our gameplan perfectly.

"They are the sort of games you enjoy; where you grind out a result and see the job through but it was even more pleasing considering what had happened the weekend before against West Ham. We were happy with the way we played against Spurs. I thought we were excellent and we could have scored more than two goals."

Stoke are ninth in the Premier League following their victory over Mauricio Pochettino's side.
