Mark Hughes: 'Erik Pieters should be fit to face Tottenham Hotspur'

Pieters illness to be over quickly

Stoke City manager Mark Hughes has revealed that left-back Erik Pieters should recover from illness in time to play on Saturday.

The Dutchman was taken off at half time of their 1-0 defeat to Liverpool, but Hughes is confident that he will face Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend.

He told the club's official website: "Erik was ill at half time and wasn't able to come back out for the second half. That is something that will resolve itself very quickly I'm sure, but I haven't had an update from the medical staff yet.

"Touch wood he will be OK to join in training with the rest of the guys early next week."

Pieters joined the club from PSV Eindhoven in 2013.
