Jerome fined £50k over betting charges

The Football Association have announced that Stoke City striker Cameron Jerome has been fined £50,000 for breaching rules regarding betting.

The 26-year-old requested a personal hearing following the governing body's decision to charge the player for betting offences unrelated to match-fixing.

Following an Independent Regulatory Commission hearing, the FA have confirmed that a £50,000 fine will be served as punishment. A statement said: "Jerome, who was also severely warned as to his future conduct, admitted a number of breaches of The FA's Betting Rules."

The fine is subject to any appeal.
