Mark Hughes: "It's still a work in progress"

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes admits that his side are still a "work in progress" this season following their defeat to Arsenal.

Stoke City boss Mark Hughes has admitted that his side are still a "work in progress" following their 3-1 defeat to Arsenal on Sunday.

The Potters fell to their second loss of the season at the Emirates Stadium as goals from Aaron Ramsey, Per Mertesacker and Bacary Sagna won the game for Arsene Wenger's side.

"It's still a work in progress and we shouldn't forget that," Hughes told the club's official website. "There were a lot of positives to take away with us, particularly with the way that we controlled the game, especially in the second half.

"We work hard every single day, and I can see improvements with every game that we play. We have had a very difficult run of fixtures but I am very much encouraged with how we are progressing.

"We are playing a different style of football, and in the long term it will help us to progress on the field."

Stoke are 10th in the Premier League after five games this season.
