Premier League confirm nine matches to go ahead

The Premier League confirms nine matches will go ahead this weekend despite UK riots.

Following the postponement of Tottenham Hotspur's match against Everton, the Premier League have confirmed that the remaining nine fixtures this weekend will go ahead as planned.

Earlier this week riots across the country forced the postponement of England's friendly with Holland as well as a number of Carling Cup ties.

After consultation with the police, Tottenham decided earlier today to cancel their season opener with Everton.

However, the Premier League have since revealed that all other fixtures will be played.
