Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama plays down suggestions that he could seek pastures new this summer.

Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Victor Wanyama has played down suggestions that he could seek pastures new in this summer's transfer window.

Wanyama, 26, missed the first half of the 2017-18 campaign through injury, and struggled to win a regular spot in Mauricio Pochettino's side upon his return to fitness.

Manchester United and Liverpool are said to be closely monitoring developments surrounding the former Southampton midfielder, but Wanyama has said that he 'wants to see his Spurs contract through'.

"I don't respond to rumours and all those are rumours to me, I still have a contract with Spurs and that is what I want to see through," Wanyama told Goal.com.

"I did not have a good season with the team because of injury and my aim now is to work hard during this break and return for next season even stronger and help them perform even better.

"I am happy at Tottenham and I am committed to the team. I am not aware of anything [regarding a move away] and I am very fine and happy where I am."

Wanyama has a contract with Tottenham until the end of the 2020-21 campaign.
