Vertonghen refuses to commit to Spurs

Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen has hinted that he would look to leave the club if they do not qualify for next season's Champions League.

Yesterday afternoon's 1-0 defeat away at Norwich City has left Spurs six points adrift of Liverpool, who occupy the final qualification spot for Europe's top club competition.

When asked if the failure to finish in the top four could see him depart White Hart Lane, the London Evening Standard quotes the 26-year-old Belgian as saying: "Those are always difficult questions. What I want is to be playing in the Champions League with Tottenham, so I hope we get in this year.

"Do I have a decision to make if we don't? I can't say anything about that. Let's see after the end of the season, after the World Cup."

Vertonghen joined Spurs from Ajax in the summer of 2012.
