Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Cristian Romero from Atalanta BC.
The Argentina international - who was named the best defender in Serie A last season - is understood to have penned a five-year deal with Nuno Espirito Santo's side.
La Dea will reportedly pocket €55m (£46.6m) from the 23-year-old's sale after the club triggered the clause to sign him permanently from parent club Juventus earlier on Friday.
Romero has become Spurs' third arrival of the transfer window and links up with ex-Atalanta teammate Pierluigi Gollini following the goalkeeper's loan move from Italy.
The South American - who became a Copa America winner with Argentina over the summer - did not make a single appearance for Juventus but registered three goals and five assists from 42 games in an Atalanta shirt during the 2020-21 season.
Following Toby Alderweireld's departure from the club earlier in the summer, Romero has been handed the number '4' shirt at Tottenham, and he posted a fond farewell message to Atalanta a few hours prior to his announcement as a Spurs player.
