Spurs to replace Alderweireld with Pavard?

Tottenham Hotspur will reportedly make a move for World Cup star Benjamin Pavard if Toby Alderweireld leaves the club this summer.

Pavard has impressed from a right-back position in France's run to the final, particularly in the 4-3 win over Argentina in the last 16 when scoring a goal of the tournament contender.

The 22-year-old has also played in central midfield in the past, highlighting his versatility, but he is more regularly used at centre-back by club side Stuttgart.

Stuttgart tied the Lille academy product down to a new long-term deal last December, running through until 2021, though The Mirror suggests that Spurs have not been put off.

Alderweireld has been tipped to leave North London, with Manchester United said to be at the front of the queue, and Pavard is the player Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring in as a replacement.
