Report: Spurs plot January pursuit of Jamie Vardy

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly planning a January bid for Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy.

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly ready to bid for Premier League top scorer Jamie Vardy when the transfer window opens in January.

Vardy scored for the seventh Premier League game in a row to take his tally for the season to 10 from 10 matches and lead Leicester City to a 1-0 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday.

The former Fleetwood Town striker has also broken into the England squad, earning four caps, and he has been tipped for a spot in the Tthree Lions squad for the Euro 2016 finals in France next summer.

The 28-year-old scored just five goals in 34 Premier League appearances last season but his impressive start to the current campaign will prompt an opening bid from Spurs in January, according to the Sunday People.

The report claims that it is not just the striker's scoring form but his work ethic which is attracting the Londoners as it means he would be a perfect fit to play the high-pressing style of football preferred by Mauricio Pochettino.

Vardy signed for Leicester from Fleetwood Town for £1m in 2012 after five years of non-league football.
