Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor reportedly moves a giant step closer to joining Tottenham Hotspur by indicating his willingness to accept a reduction in his current weekly wage.

Manchester City forward Emmanuel Adebayor has reportedly indicated that he is prepared to take a pay cut in order to join Tottenham Hotspur.

The two clubs agreed a £5m fee for the 28-year-old, who spent last season on loan at White Hart Lane, over five weeks ago.

However, the move stalled because Spurs were unwilling to match the player's current wages of £170,000 per week.

According to The Sun, Adebayor has now decided that the move to North London is worth sacrificing a significant percentage of his current income for and the transfer could be completed this week.

Adebayor's current City contract expires in June 2014.
