Eriksen 'in no hurry to sign new Spurs deal'

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen is reportedly holding off on signing a new contract until the summer as he is awaiting contact from Real Madrid.

The Denmark international is believed to have been offered an improved deal by Spurs that will tie him down for a further three years.

As things stand, though, Eriksen is about to enter the final 12 months of his existing terms, which may force the Lilywhites to cash in if Madrid - long-term admirers of the midfielder - make an offer.

Despite reports that Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy will refuse to sell Eriksen for less than £170m, AS claims that he could be available for around £74m if his contract standoff extends into the summer transfer window.

Eriksen is keeping his options open, it is suggested, with proposals also on the table from other European clubs, including Inter Milan and possibly Manchester United.
