Christian Eriksen glad with Manchester City snub

New Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Chirstian Eriksen is glad that he snubbed Manchester City last season, as it allowed him to continue to develop at Ajax.

Tottenham Hotspur playmaker Christian Eriksen is glad that he turned down the chance to join Manchester City last season.

The Danish international felt that he may not have played enough at City and wanted to continue to develop as a player.

He joined Spurs from Ajax for £11.5m this summer and feels vindicated by his decision, particularly after a goal and an assist in his first two games.

"It took me a while to get here because I said no a few times," Eriksen told reporters. "Last summer City really wanted to try to sign me but it didn't feel right for me.

"I didn't feel ready for a league like the Premier League and now it looks like I moved at the right time. Maybe I wouldn't have played at City. A lot of players moved from Ajax in the last year and it gave me responsibility and made me grow. It made me better.

"I'm here to try to win the title, everybody wants that. The most important thing is to make the Champions League next year and once you are in the top four you can start looking for first place."

Spurs travel to Cardiff City this afternoon.
