Toby Alderweireld 'considering Tottenham Hotspur stay'

Toby Alderweireld is reportedly prepared to open contract negotiations with Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the past 18 months, there has been frequent speculation regarding the future of the defender, who now has less than a year remaining on his deal.

While Mauricio Pochettino was at the North London outfit, it was suggested that the Belgium international would look for a new challenge at the end of the season.

However, according to DHNet, the 30-year-old is now ready to hold talks with the club's hierarchy over extending his stay at the Premier League side.

The arrival of Jose Mourinho is said to be the pivotal factor, with the Portuguese having previously wanted to sign Alderweireld during his time at Manchester United.

Alderweireld was also handed a starting role for Mourinho's first fixture in charge at the weekend.
