Team News: Ricky Alvarez to make Sunderland bow

Sunderland boss Gus Poyet hands a debut to new signing Ricky Alvarez for the visit of Tottenham Hotspur.

Sunderland new boy Ricky Alvarez will earn his club debut in this afternoon's visit of Tottenham Hotspur after being named in the starting lineup.

The Argentine, who joined on loan from Inter Milan on deadline day, comes straight into the fold to replace Steven Fletcher as Gus Poyet's only change from the 1-0 defeat to Queens Park Rangers last time out.

Alvarez slots in behind Connor Wickham, who spearheads the Black Cats' attack at the Stadium of Light.

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino makes two changes to his first XI from the 3-0 loss to Liverpool prior to the international break.

Vlad Chiriches replaces defender Jan Vertonghen, who has not been named in the squad.

Moussa Dembele comes in for Nabil Bentaleb, who only arrived back in North London on Thursday after international duty with Algeria.

Tottenham new boys Federico Fazio and Benjamin Stambouli could make their debuts after the duo were named on the bench.

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Dier, Kaboul, Chiriches, Rose; Dembele, Capoue; Lamela, Eriksen, Chadli; Adebayor
