Team News: Toby Alderweireld starts for Tottenham Hotspur at Brighton & Hove Albion

Toby Alderweireld makes his first Tottenham Hotspur start since October in the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Toby Alderweireld has been named in Tottenham Hotspur's starting XI for a league match for the first time since last October, lining up in their defence for the trip to Brighton & Hove Albion.

Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has rung the changes for the visit to the south coast with this weekend's FA Cup semi-final clash against Manchester United in mind, swapping out six players from the defeat to Manchester City.

The big news for the visitors is that playmaker Dele Alli has been rested, along with Davinson Sanchez, Kieran Trippier, Erik Lamela, Eric Dier and Mousa Dembele.

Coming into the side are Alderweireld, Son Heung-min, Victor Wanyama, Moussa Sissoko, Serge Aurier and Lucas Moura.

Hosts Brighton have made two changes for the match, drafting in Spanish defender Bruno to captain the side and French winger Anthony Knockaert.

Forward Jurgen Locadia and defender Ezequiel Schelotto have both dropped to the bench to make way.

Brighton & Hove Albion: Ryan; Bruno, Duffy, Dunk, Bong; Kayal, Stephens, Gross, Knockaert; Murray, Izquierdo
Subs: Baldock, Ulloa, Goldson, March, Schelotto, Locadia, Krul

Tottenham Hotspur: Lloris; Aurier, Alderweireld, Vertonghen, Davies; Wanyama, Sissoko, Eriksen, Lucas, Son; Kane
Subs: Trippier, Lamela, Vorm, Dier, Llorente, Dembele, Foyth
