West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur fined for failing to control players

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur are fined by the Football Association after admitting a misconduct charge for failing to control their players in last Saturday's derby.

West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have each been fined £20,000 by the Football Association after admitting a misconduct charge for failing to control their players.

Spurs secured a 3-2 win over the Hammers in last Saturday's Premier League derby at the London Stadium, with a melee taking place late on which saw five players cautioned by referee Michael Oliver.

West Ham's Andy Carroll, Winston Reid and Andre Ayew were shown yellow cards, while Eric Dier and Fernando Llorente were booked for the visitors.

The FA confirmed in a statement on Thursday afternoon: "West Ham United and Tottenham Hotspur have each been fined £20,000 after they admitted an FA misconduct charge and accepted the standard penalty.

"It was alleged that in or around the 95th minute of their fixture on Saturday (September 23, 2017), both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion."

Tottenham almost squandered a three-goal lead in the game and endured a nervy end after being reduced to 10 men in the 70th minute when summer signing Serge Aurier received a second yellow card.
