Andre Villas-Boas: 'Hugo Lloris is my number one'

Andre Villas-Boas confirms that Hugo Lloris has won the battle of the goalkeepers at White Hart Lane.

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that summer signing Hugo Lloris is the number one goalkeeper at White Hart Lane.

Lloris arrived from Lyon in August for £15million but initially found it hard to displace Brad Friedel. However, the French captain has started the last four consecutive Premier League games, with Villas-Boas confirming that he is now first choice.

"He is my number one now," he told the Daily Star. "I have nothing but respect for the way he handled himself. It was not easy for him [being left out].

"He was very patient. Brad had been super and Hugo had to wait.

"Hugo has won the battle at the moment."

The Spurs boss also confirmed that Scott Parker will not be sold in January and will return to the first team immediately after recovering from injury.

Spurs take on Swansea City at home later today.
