Jan Vertonghen has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur must improve their home form if they are to clinch a spot in the top four next season.
Five defeats at White Hart Lane have been key in Spurs's struggles to challenge for Champions League qualification, and Vertonghen has urged his teammates to make North London a tougher place to visit.
"It is very important next season that we make our home ground a place that other teams don't want to visit," the Belgian told the club's website. "We've suffered some disappointing results here this year and had we picked up a few wins in the games we lost, we would have been pushing higher up the table.
"We did show what we are capable of in the games against Chelsea and Arsenal and we need to show that tempo in our performances more often.
"Away from home we have done very well and our record is one of the best in the division. Teams have to come out and attack us a bit more and we can exploit that, so if we can improve our home form next season, then that will help us."
Spurs host Manchester City on Sunday afternoon, seven points adrift of the top four.
