Andros Townsend thanks Andre Villas-Boas, Harry Redknapp

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend says that he is grateful to Andre Villas-Boas and Harry Redknapp for showing faith in his ability.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend has thanked Andre Villas-Boas and Harry Redknapp for helping him break into the England national team.

The 22-year-old established himself in the Premier League during a loan spell with his former manager Redknapp at Queens Park Rangers last season and has started the new season in fine form for club and country.

After scoring on his debut in a 4-1 win over Montenegro, Townsend went on to star in a 2-0 victory over Poland.

"I have to thank my manager at Tottenham, Andre Villas-Boas, for giving me the chance this season ahead of a lot of experienced players," he told The Telegraph.

"Last season Harry Redknapp took a chance on me. Many were 'umming and ahhing' but he really gave me the chance to play Premier League football, for which I will be forever grateful."

Spurs travel to Aston Villa in the Premier League this afternoon.
