Pochettino: 'We can win the double this season'

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino has said that his first-team squad is strong enough to cope with the demands of both Premier League and Europa League football.

Spurs currently sit in second position in the Premier League table, two points behind leaders Leicester City, while they progressed through to the last 16 of the Europa League in midweek with a 4-1 aggregate success against Fiorentina.

However, despite some calls for the club to focus their attentions on trying to win the title, Pochettino has hinted that he will continue to play a strong team in Europe after being drawn against Borussia Dortmund.

The 43-year-old is quoted by BBC Sport as saying: "It's true that maybe for the supporters the Premier League is more important [than the Europa League] but we need to show we respect both competitions.

"I think we have enough quality and a big enough squad that we can do both. Why prioritise one of them? We have ahead three important games in the Premier League, and then we will think about the next round of the Europa League."

Spurs play host to Swansea City at White Hart Lane on Sunday afternoon.
