Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane says that he did not dive in order to win his side a penalty against Liverpool in their Premier League clash at Anfield.

Tottenham Hotspur forward Harry Kane has denied claims that he dived in order to win his side a penalty against Liverpool.

Moments after Spurs had equalised at Anfield, Kane went down under a challenge from goalkeeper Loris Karius, with replays inconclusive regarding the contact made with the striker.

Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk has said that Kane 'dived' in order to earn the spot kick, but Kane has insisted that there was enough contact to warrant a penalty.

The 24-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports as saying: "[Karius] has dived, he got in the way and I'm a player, I'm not going to jump out of the way because it's football. I definitely felt contact and I went down."

Kane missed the resulting penalty, with the two teams eventually playing out a 2-2 draw on Merseyside.
