Ben Davies: 'Tottenham Hotspur guilty of losing focus in Stoke City draw'

Tottenham Hotspur defender Ben Davies claims that they were guilty of losing focus in Saturday's 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

Ben Davies has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur were punished for losing focus in Saturday's dramatic 2-2 draw with Stoke City.

Goals from Eric Dier and Nacer Chadli put Spurs on course for victory at White Hart Lane, but Stoke responded impressively to claim a point by scoring twice in the closing stages.

The late collapse prevented Mauricio Pochettino's side from earning their first win of the season and Davies offered no excuses for the failure to collect all three points.

"I can imagine how aggrieved the fans are because as players I know how disappointed we are that we let all our good work earlier in the game go to waste and ended up with a 2-2 draw," the Welsh defender told the club's website.

"It's hard to pinpoint why things happened like they did. Perhaps when we're not on top we need to be switched on enough to turn things around. Those are the moments where we have to perform and not lose focus."

Spurs will look to bounce back when they visit Leicester City on Saturday.
