Tottenham could set new all-time Premier League record with victory over Ipswich Town

Tottenham Hotspur could achieve a winning feat never seen before in the Premier League when they host Ipswich Town in Sunday's encounter in North London.

Ange Postecoglou's men have some midweek wrongs to right at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the 2pm kickoff, having lost their perfect Europa League record in an enthralling 3-2 loss to Galatasaray on Thursday.

However, the Lilywhites got back to winning ways in the top flight in emphatic fashion last weekend, smashing Aston Villa 4-1 following their dismal 1-0 defeat away to London rivals Crystal Palace.

Spurs' crushing of Villa saw them surge into the top seven of the Premier League table before gameweek 11 got underway, while also continuing a recent trend at home for Postecoglou's side.

Tottenham fell behind in that game to a Morgan Rogers effort, before a Dominic Solanke brace, Brennan Johnson strike and James Maddison free kick completed another turnaround for the capital giants.

Postecoglou's men had previously come from behind to beat West Ham United and Brentford at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, and no side has ever won four straight Premier League home games when conceding first in all of them.

Ipswich's shoddy record at London stadiums offers hope that Spurs can at least prolong their top-flight winning sequence, as the Tractor Boys have conceded four at both Brentford and West Ham in the past few weeks.

However, Kieran McKenna's men managed to score three past Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium, while also finding the net against West Ham before succumbing to the Irons' attacking superiority.

Postecoglou could be working around a depleted defence for Sunday's game, as Micky van de Ven is definitely absent with his hamstring injury, while Cristian Romero remains a doubt with a toe injury.

Speaking to the media in his pre-game press conference, Postecoglou could not guarantee that the Argentine would be available for the visit of Ipswich, while also providing updates on Mikey Moore and Timo Werner.

"Cristian, we'll see how he goes the next couple of days, the idea is to try and get him out there and train and he's pretty keen to so he has a chance for the weekend," Postecoglou said.

"Mikey [Moore] probably still not right for the weekend, and probably Timo [Werner] as well. Really out of the ones who are out, only Cristian could be back."

Should Romero not shake off his issue in time to feature, Radu Dragusin and Ben Davies could start in central defence for Tottenham, although Archie Gray is an alternative option at the back.

Richarlison (hamstring) and Wilson Odobert (thigh) are also absent for the Lilywhites, while Djed Spence is nursing a groin injury and remains uncertain for the showdown with McKenna's team.
