Charlie Adam plays down Paulinho tackle after Tottenham Hotspur complaint

Charlie Adam says that he does not need to defend himself after Tottenham Hotspur complained to the FA about his tackle on Paulinho.

Charlie Adam has insisted that he does not need to defend himself for his tackle on Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Paulinho when Stoke City travelled to White Hart Lane last month.

Adam, who had previously clashed with Gareth Bale in North London resulting in retrospective action against the Scot, collided with the Brazilian during Spurs' 3-0 win in December, which forced the capital outfit to complain to the FA after Paulihno was ruled out of action for a month.

"There's no point in me speaking about it, it's done and dusted and we move on," Adam told reporters.

"That's what happens in football, opinions, but you have to react in the right way and we've done that with a win and we're happy.

"I don't need to answer any questions. For me it's about winning games and scoring goals. If I keep doing that, I'm playing well and the team are winning, then that's the important thing."

Adam was booed onto the field at White Hart Lane during the match, with Spurs fans seemingly yet to forgive him for his season-ending tackle on Bale two years ago and another nasty challenge on the Welshman in a pre-season friendly.
