Mauricio Pochettino expects tough Newcastle United test

Tottenham coach Mauricio Pochettino warns his players that they will be given a tough test by Newcastle in the League Cup quarter-finals.

Tottenham Hotspur coach Mauricio Pochettino has warned his players that they face tough opposition in Newcastle United ahead of Wednesday's League Cup quarter-final.

Spurs welcome the Magpies to White Hart Lane less than two months after they were beaten at home by the same side in the Premier League.

Pochettino insists that Tottenham have improved since then, but he is still wary of the threat that Newcastle are capable of posing.

"We are in a different moment now to the one we were in before," the Argentine is quoted as saying by Sky Sports News. "You always learn every day in football.

"Every game is different, but we understand we need a very good performance because Newcastle are a very good team. Tomorrow is an important game for the club and the supporters because we want to reach the semi-finals and hope we all create a good atmosphere together to win the game."

Tottenham are currently in seventh place in the Premier League table.
