Senior trio remain doubtful for Tottenham Hotspur's trip to Newcastle United

Senior trio Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker all remain injury doubts for Tottenham's Premier League trip to Newcastle.

Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and Kyle Walker all remain injury doubts for Tottenham Hotspur's Premier League clash with Newcastle United on Sunday.

Three of Spurs' most senior players missed the disappointing 1-0 home defeat to Aston Villa last weekend and will be assessed ahead of the trip to St James' Park.

"All three are doubts," Mauricio Pochettino told the club's official website after training on Friday. "We have another training session tomorrow and we will then assess their levels, see how they are and make a decision."

A knee problem and illness also forced Lloris and Vertonghen to sit out the 0-0 draw at Burnley, in which Walker limped off with a foot concern. Michel Vorm, Federico Fazio and Vlad Chiriches are again on standby to deputise.

Spurs are seventh in the Premier League table, seven points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with six games remaining this season.
