Half-Time Report: Sergio Aguero slams Manchester City in front at Tottenham Hotspur

Sergio Aguero's fine finish in the 29th minute gives Manchester City a 1-0 half-time lead over Tottenham.

Manchester City are on course to consolidate second place in the Premier League as they hold a slender 1-0 advantage over Tottenham Hotspur at the halfway mark of Sunday's game.

Spurs were quickest out of the blocks at White Hart Lane and could have had a pair of goals inside the opening five minutes as Eric Dier and Harry Kane were both guilty of failing to find the target from clear-cut openings.

City first threatened in the 12th minute when Aleksandar Kolarov sent over a deep cross from the left and Sergio Aguero flashed a wicked first-time volley wide.

Ten minutes later, Aguero was again causing problems as Hugo Lloris slipped when coming out to claim a long ball, allowing the Argentinian in behind. He would have had to shoot from a narrow angle, but was not given the opportunity as Federico Fazio clipped his heels, but was not penalised by referee Andre Marriner.

City broke the deadlock in the 29th minute when the league's top goalscorer, Aguero, took his tally to 22 by picking out the near top corner after being slipped through on goal by David Silva.

Both sides had chances to score the second goal of the game soon after Aguero's opener, with Federico Fazio heading wide for Spurs at one end before Fernandinho blasted wide at the other.

The open nature of the game did not let up as both Fernandinho and Ryan Mason failed to take good opportunities just before half time.
