Mauricio Pochettino: 'Tottenham Hotspur will field youngsters in Europa League'

Tottenham Hotspur manager Mauricio Pochettino insists that qualifying for the Europa League is his side's main goal in the closing weeks of the season.

Mauricio Pochettino has admitted that Tottenham Hotspur will use the Europa League to unearth further new talent next season, should they qualify for the competition.

A number of high-quality performances by Harry Kane in Europe's secondary tournament led to him being given a chance at first-team level this term, with the striker going on to score 30 goals overall.

Spurs boss Pochettino now plans to bed in fellow academy graduates, although they must first secure their place in the continental event.

"I think it's a very good competition," the South American is quoted as saying by The Express. "It was good for us because we gave opportunities to different players to play and compete during the season.

"Our challenge now is to try to win the three games to be sure we play in the next Europa League. This is our objective, our challenge, to bring young players from the academy. If they deserve to play, why not?"

Tottenham, who are currently sixth in the Premier League, reached the round-of-32 stage of the Europa League this season before being knocked out by Fiorentina.
