Andre Villas-Boas defends Hugo Lloris after blunder

AVB unconcerned with Lloris mistake

Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has revealed that he is not unduly concerned by goalkeeper Hugo Lloris's mistake against Maribor in the Europa League last night.

The France international failed to clear a back-pass from Kyle Naughton, which allowed Robert Beric to equalise before Defoe rounded off Spurs' 3-1 win with a hat-trick.

"Sometimes things like this happen," said Villas-Boas. "It happened to us at Chelsea with Petr Cech last year. It's mistakes that make you evolve as a player and I have no problem with that."

Meanwhile, Villas-Boas has hit back at claims from France coach Didier Deschamps, who insisted that Lloris needed more game time, by saying: "It goes in one ear and comes out the other."

Spurs are due to go up against English champions Manchester City in the Premier League this Sunday.
