Glenn Hoddle: 'I would choose Ross Barkley over Dele Alli'

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle admits that he would pick Ross Barkley over Dele Alli for Euro 2016.

Former England manager Glenn Hoddle has revealed that he would take Ross Barkley to Euro 2016 instead of Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Dele Alli.

The former MK Dons player impressed on his full international debut against France but if given the choice between the two, Hoddle would take the Everton midfielder to the European Championships next year.

The 58-year-old told BT Sport: "For the summer, I think Barkley has had an opportunity to go in there, he has done well, I think we need that sort of player there.

"We definitely need a creative player in there, whether it will be [Adam] Lallana or Barkley or Alli, I don't know but I think Alli over the next two or three years, I think he will turn into a really good international player."

Barkley has scored three goals and created three assists for Everton this season, while Alli has scored twice in his debut campaign at White Hart Lane.
