Ryan Gauld completes Sporting Lisbon move

Dundee United midfielder Ryan Gauld has completed a move to Sporting Lisbon on a six-year contract.

It was revealed on Tuesday that a fee in the region of £3m had been agreed for his signature, and Lisbon have wasted little time in finalising a deal with the 18-year-old.

A statement on Dundee United's official website read: "Subject to the usual formalities, Dundee United confirm the transfer of Ryan Gauld to Sporting Lisbon, for an undisclosed fee, was completed last night.

"Everyone at the club wishes Ryan sincere best wishes in his future career."

Gauld, who had also been linked with the likes of Real Madrid, Manchester United and Arsenal, has a €60m (£48m) buyout clause in his contract.
